Stop Fighting the Elements and Take Preventative Measures by Sealcoating

Do you have a crack in your driveway that has been steadily growing? And have you ever considered calling a driveway paving company like Stanley Paving that provides sealcoating? Many do not understand the benefits of sealcoating in Philadelphia or even that it exists. Repaving your asphalt is one thing, but protecting it from the harsh Northeastern weather is another thing entirely.

Driveways do not just take a beating from repeatedly being driven over; they also are pelleted by the elements and the weather. Winter in particular is unforgiving to asphalt.

Do you recall the potholes from last year’s snowstorms?

Many major roads in the area had to be repaved from the amount of damage produced by the plows. When plows, shovels, wear and tear, etc. create cracks in asphalt, water or melted snow can get into those cracks and freeze overnight. The ice then expands the crack, allowing it to get larger and larger the more these conditions are met. Even in warmer months, water can erode through the asphalt’s base, causing oxidation on the surface.

So what do you do to prevent this problem from occurring?

It would be wise to look into sealcoating your driveway as soon as possible so that you can avoid the burden of continuously having to repave every time a bad snowstorm hits. When you sealcoat your pavement, it will be covered by a bituminous liquid mixture, which coats any imperfections and fills in any and all small cracks that are left behind. More attributes of sealcoating are as follows:

  • Protects from the sun’s UV rays
  • Protects against gasoline, rock salt, leaked oil, and other harmful chemicals
  • Prevents already-present small cracks from growing bigger
  • Fills in imperfections
  • Is a fast and easy application
  • Requires no maintenance to keep it clean
  • Creates a shiny, black surface that will last
  • Smooth and non-porous
  • Non-toxic: no asbestos, coal tar, or other carcinogenic materials
  • Non-flammable
  • Non-tracking
  • Slip resistant

Sealcoating your driveway, parking lot, or private road will insure that it is protected from the natural erosion of everyday life. Not only does it leave your driveway looking smooth, but long-term is also is highly cost-effective. Avoid the stress of battling the elements, and instead take the preventative measure that sealcoating provides.
